I am a big fan of neuromuscular-descent sprints, that is, using descents such as the Alpe du Zwift to sprint as hard as possible, rest for a minute or so and then sprint again. Each sprint is executed to failure.

As you can imagine, progressive sprints become more and more difficult, painful and less powerful, but the resulting adaptation over the following months/years can be dramatically beneficial.

As an aside, these sprints place enormous stress on the leg musculature and cardio-vascular system - adequate recovery is essential, more so than regular rest days.

This video outlines an example of where this type of sprint-rest-sprint training can become significant, not just in multiple jersey brag-rights ;), but as a final kilometer race-winning strategy. :)
