Hitting it as hard as you can for as long as you can pretty much always ends in pain and an unsuccessful session goal.

Hello pacing.

Relative Pacing - stay with a zone that is tough but can be sustained, in this instance, for around 12 minutes.

For me, a PR is always the goal - not always achieved but always chased.

So, discipline is key - don't be tempted to chase when overtaken, stay within selected zone even if you think you can go a little quicker.

It's a psychological battle - but a worthwhile one. :)
