Enforced rest - that is, way longer than is customary for me.
My need to ride (or exercise) goes deeper than the resulting fitness - for me, cycling dictates my day, my week, my month, my life.
With that, I often find myself over-reaching and over-training. Not good either way, but, when I am forced to 'take a back seat' the resulting rest days conclude with strengthened structures in muscle and ancillary organs - I find this extra-strengthening shows its worth in Zwift sprints.
I don't plan extended rest periods but I am happy to bathe in any resulting positive outcomes
