A couple of users have suggested using the avatar (little picture displayed next to your posts) could be better used to allow more creativity.

I agree.

I have increased the physical dimensions to a maximum 200 x 200 pixels with a maximum file size of 32k.

I don't see any problems increasing the dimensions further should anyone require them.

Use your 'User Control Panel' link to edit or upload avatars.
