So, pushing maximum watts on the Zwift sprint sections is gonna get a PR or even Green?
If you're going for a new PR, or that Green jersey!, it's not all about power - Zwift determines speed based on power, but speed is what we're after.
The faster you travel across the sprint timed section the better your time - regardless of power.
So with that in mind, is it best to use up the top end of your power spectrum building speed on the approach? - in most cases, yes.
You're looking to hit the start line at the fastest speed you can maintain for the duration of the sprint. That, of course, will depend on the length of the sprint - burning out in the first 10 seconds of a 20 second sprint is not going to get a quick time.
Use your power to increase speed before the start line and do your best to hold that speed.
